Research interest:

Her broad research interest focuses on network design problems in logistics and supply chain management, mainly to understand how to address these problems in real-life, practical contexts. Currently, part of her research activities is oriented to investigate a class of multi-echelon facility location problems arising in reverse network contexts, such as waste tires and waste electrical, and electronic equipment (WEEE). The main goal is proposing models and solution approaches to properly represent the Brazilian scenario, motivated by the challenges associated to the huge physical structure of the country, and thus the difficulty in coordinating the main players in these types of logistics networks. Her other research interests rely on optimization models and solution methods applied to the integration of strategic and tactical decisions in general distribution networks. Particularly, she has been working on problems that present a clear interdependency of the logistic network design and transportation decisions, including choice of transportation modes, type of freight and frequency of delivery.
